Text description provided by the architects. The architectural project for the first headquarters of Mitre Galeria in São Paulo consists of the renovation of a former auto body shop to create an exhibition space for the gallery, which originated in Minas Gerais. The intervention sought to preserve and enhance the existing spatial characteristics, while simultaneously adapting, renovating, and significantly expanding the space for its new use. The design combines the original simplicity of the former automotive industrial activity with the demands and qualities required of a space dedicated to contemporary art.
