From projects, ideas, drawings, and sketches to photographs, models, material samples, and other documentation, these records embody years and memories of professional work responding to different needs, contexts, and purposes. Understanding that the architectural archive can serve as an effective method to inform and expand our understanding of collective intelligence, several foundations and architectural archives today take on multiple functions, extending their boundaries toward new horizons. The Fundació Enric Miralles has launched MIRALLES, a series of exhibitions and events celebrating the work of the influential Catalan architect, whose passing marked twenty years in 2020. Curated by Benedetta Tagliabue and Joan Roig i Duran, the program will unfold over the course of this year in different emblematic venues in Barcelona. The first three exhibitions of the circuit inaugurated this month showcase the multiple facets of Enric Miralles through archival materials ranging from drawings and collages to photography and models, exploring his legacy in architecture and artistic creation.

The Enric Miralles Foundation, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University in Catalunya (UPC), will offer a postgraduate program called Social Urban Regeneration, starting October 8. Students will create a social urban project over the course of 10 weeks specializing in integrated, contemporary, and sustainable urban planning. The project, entitled "2017 Grand Paris Clichy-Montferneil Suburbs of Paris," will look into the question of how new cities should be planned, and how older cities can be renewed and renovated.
